Allegra Pearce

Volunteer

Allegra recently graduated with her Master’s in biology from McGill University before moving to Nova Scotia. She is volunteering in the lab working under Kristina on investigating the Owl’s Head Provincial Park blue carbon stocks. The purpose of the blue carbon project is to quantify the carbon stocks in coastal systems such as terrestrial wetlands, tidal marshes, and eelgrass beds that are present in the park. This will help communities to make informed decisions about how to use this land by determining the environmental and economical consequences of disturbing coastal systems that store carbon. She hopes her current and future research will help our communities further understand and protect maritime ecosystems.
