Esteban works on species distribution models (SDM) of silky sharks (C. falciformis) and their overlap with tuna fisheries to predict the vulnerability of the species in the Tropical Pacific near the coast of Mexico. Working on SDMs with high resolution data on a regional scale is a powerful tool to contribute to species conservation strategies as they improve our knowledge about the species' ecology and potential threats.
