Manuel is a shark and ray scientist. His work is focusing on the development and application of non or minimally invasive techniques to research sharks and rays and to monitor the status and health of populations, the application of simple and information-limited status assessments, and more generally the conservation science of sharks and rays, specifically in Cabo Verde, science-based restoration, and academic teaching.
