Matilda Gray

Post-Doc

Mati works on the CERI project within the FOME lab at Dalhousie University, focusing on eelgrass distribution modelling, and collaborates with the SEAM lab in the Oceanography Department. Mati’s PhD in Mathematics and Statistics at Strathclyde University explores the global diversity of marine phytoplankton, incorporating species similarity and the underlying mechanics of phytoplankton diversity. With a background in interdisciplinary marine science, oceanographic work at Marine Scotland, and stakeholder management in marine renewable energy, Mati brings a comprehensive perspective to marine ecology.
Joining us from Glasgow, Scotland, Mati holds an undergraduate degree in marine science from the University of Highlands and Islands, Scottish Association for Marine Science in Oban. A career highlight includes working in the Faroe-Shetland Channel, a testament to Mati's dedication to impactful marine research. Mati aims to remain curious and contribute meaningful science to aid in addressing the ongoing climate crisis.
